  WORKSHOP PROPOSAL Misinformation: textual echoes masked of credibility Lecturer :  Giselda Costa -State University of Piauí - Brazil - Linguistics department Duration of Session : 1 hour   Day : 13/12/2021 Target Audience : Teachers and educators   Programme Capacity : Minimum of 20 pax DESCRIPTION OF THE WORKSHOP This workshop aims to equip educators with the knowledge and skills of applying information literacy in combating misinformation.   Besides that the teachers  will create a misinformation   to gain insights into linguistic strategies that authors use to make information credible. Participants should be divided into groups depending on the number present and choose whichever newspapers or magazines online. They will now be able to cut works and paste them over articles to change their meaning in order to create false information. A LITTLE ABOUT ME

  A little about me I am Giselda Costa. I have a PhD in Linguistics from the Federal University of Pernambuco- Brazil / Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, University of Coimbra – Portugal. Currently doing Masters at the Linguistics Center at the State University of Piaui – Brazil. I'm currently developing a project for teachers who work in basic education with needy students in the city of Teresina- Piaui- Brazil. The ItinerantLiteracy Pr#ject aims to plan visits to schools to help language teachers on various topics, including: how to work with students with hearing or visual problems in teaching languages using some technologies, how to work with FakeNews in a mother tongue and foreign language classroom and how to explore critical visual literacy (images/video clips) in a language classroom. I have always worked in public schools in poor communities in the State of Piaui-Brazil. I started with basic level students (9 and 10 year olds), and after my graduation in a language (English as a foreign language) I went to work in a secondary school (15 to 17 year olds). When I finished my PhD, I developed projects with underprivileged public school students and teachers. But working in a language class has always left me quite free, as this subject accepts a variety of subjects presented, especially current such as technology, family, drugs, prejudice, terrorism, sex, environment, pollution, among others.
